Jenis asam yang biasa digunakan adalah asam sulfat dan asam klorida.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Asam sulfat (H<sub>2<\/sub>SO<sub>4<\/sub>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Asam sulfat merupakan jenis asam yang paling sering digunakan. Bersifat asam kuat, tidak berwarna dan tidak berbau yang memiliki beberapa kelebihan, diantaranya:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>Biaya lebih terjangkau<\/li>\n<li>Kandungan ion hidrogen dua kali lebih banyak<\/li>\n<li>Menghasilkan asap yang lebih sedikit<\/li>\n<li>Lebih efektif digunakan dalam proses ini<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Sedangkan kekurangan dari asam sulfat yaitu dapat memberikan hasil permukaan logam yang lebih gelap terutama pada baja karbon tinggi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/universaleco.id\/en\/asam-klorida-dan-pengelolaan-limbah-b3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baca Juga : Asam Klorida dan Pengelolaan Limbah B3<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Asam klorida (HCL)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Asam klorida juga termasuk asam kuat dan dapat digunakan pada proses pickiling dengan keunggulan sebagai berikut:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>Menghasilkan permukaan abu-abu cerah pada logam<\/li>\n<li>Mengurangi terjadinya\u00a0<em>over pickling\u00a0<\/em>(pengurangan kualitas logam karena pengikisan yang berlebihan oleh asam)<\/li>\n<li>Proses pencucian yang mudah karena memiliki kelarutan klorida yang cukup baik<\/li>\n<li>Relatif aman di dalam penggunaannya<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Di samping itu, terdapat kelemahan dari asam klorida yaitu harga atau biaya yang lebih mahal.<\/p>\n<p>Proses dapat dilakukan secara berkelanjutan (<em>continuous pickling<\/em>) dan bertahap (<em>batch pickling<\/em>). Industri galvanizing merupakan salah satu industri yang menerapkan proses ini karena bahan baku utama yang digunakan adalah logam.<\/p>\n<p>Proses ini membutuhkan waktu antara 30 \u2013 60 detik dan harus segera dibilas dengan air mengalir kemudian lanjut ke proses selanjutnya (electroplating). Disarankan agar tidak ada waktu jeda selama proses pickling-pembilasan-proses selanjutnya (electroplating).
