Pengertian<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Sedimentasi adalah proses pemisahan padatan dari larutannya menjadi cairan yang lebih jernih dan\u00a0sludge<\/em>. \u00a0Proses ini memanfaatkan gaya gravitasi, gaya apung dan gaya dorong di mana membiarkan larutan sampai terbentuk endapan di bawah yang terpisah dengan cairan atas nya.<\/p>\n

Fungsi<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Sedimentasi berperan penting dalam proses industri, diantanya:<\/p>\n

  1. Proses pemurnian air limbah<\/li>\n
  2. Proses pengolahan air sungai menjadi\u00a0boiler feed water<\/em><\/li>\n
  3. Proses pengendapan padatan pada bahan makanan cair, minuman beralkohol dan bubur kertas\/pulp<\/em><\/li>\n
  4. Proses pengendapan kristal dalam larutan induk<\/li>\n
  5. Proses pemisahan senyawa magnesium dari air laut<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Proses Sedimentasi<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    3 (tiga) proses yang dapat dilakukan adalah sebagai berikut:<\/p>\n

    1. Batch<\/em>: Umumnya digunakan pada skala laboratorium di mana mengamati proses sedimentasi pada suatu tabung dengan waktu tertentu<\/li>\n
    2. Semi<\/em>–batch<\/em>: Proses ini berfokus pada cairan yang masuk (dalam bentuk larutan) dan cairan yang keluar (cairan yang lebih jernih)<\/li>\n
    3. Kontinyu: Proses masuk-keluar larutan dan cairan yang lebih jernih dilakukan secara kontinyu<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Industri yang Menerapkan Proses Sedimentasi<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      Sedimentasi diterapkan pada beberapa industri, antara lain:<\/p>\n

      3. Industri kertas dan\u00a0pulp<\/em><\/li>\n
      4. Industri air bersih dan air minum<\/li>\n

        Proses Sedimentasi Menghasilkan Limbah B3<\/strong><\/h2>\n

        Di dalam proses industri, utamanya menggunakan bahan kimia, sehingga endapan dari proses sedimentasi tersebut mengandung bahan kimia berbahaya. Oleh karena itu, residu yang dihasilkan dari proses ini dikategorikan sebagai limbah Bahan Berbahaya dan Beracun (B3) dengan kode limbah A348-1.<\/p>\n
